Citizen Engagement in Security Research and Innovation
Transdisciplinary Methods for Societal Impact Assessment and Impact Creation for Security Research Technologies (TRANSCEND)
Security technologies intend to promote public safety, and security and increase societal resilience. However, they can spur controversies and raise societal, legal, ethical, and political challenges by potentially infringing on human rights, increasing social injustice, and harming individual freedom. As civil society is rarely or restrictively involved in the design and development of security technologies, these challenges are often not well identified and addressed.
TRANSCEND aims to enable individuals and organisations that speak on their behalf to participate actively and creatively in iterative processes of design and deployment.
