We are hiring a Communications Lead!

Background

Code for All serves as a vibrant international network of 31 civic tech organizations. We are committed to fostering digital innovation, citizen engagement, and transparent governance. Our collaboration with seven organizations under the EU-funded Transcend Project aims to enhance individuals and organizations to actively shape civil security research and technology development.

We are seeking a Communications Lead, ideally someone with an understanding of our network and/or of civic tech. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere globally.

The role is a part-time contract for 13 months, for September 2024 – September 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Code for All Communications (5-8 hours / week):
    • Reach out to network members to obtain latest member updates
    • Share regular network updates and any relevant latest news in civic tech and digital government on Code for All’s Slack and newsletter. 
    • Help tell the story of the work and impact of Code for All and its member organizations across our social media channels (LinkedIn and X), website, newsletter, blog, and the internal community Slack, crafting compelling graphic design and multimedia content to support the narrative. 
    • Create promotional campaigns on any channels you’d like to use, help measure their efficacy, and experiment with different ways to engage and grow our community as well as our external audience.
    • Help manage inbound messages to Code for All and connect people to the right places and people.
    • Enable information sharing amongst members by helping to coordinate communication between relevant network members.
    • Support network leaders in creating documents, promotional material, and/or pitch decks for any funding or partnership opportunities that may arise.
  • September 2024 – September 2025, Transcend Project (2 hours / week):
    • Support the TRANSCEND Project by disseminating key information and maintaining active engagement on the LinkedIn group, while keeping the Code for All network updated on TRANSCEND activities and updates
      • Support the Project Manager in enhancing and adapting the communications strategy, comms designs, and implementation for disseminating key information and updates in the LinkedIn group.

Who we’re looking for

  • Exceptional command of English, both written and verbal, is essential.
  • A proactive and adaptive approach to work, with a knack for problem-solving and a readiness to handle various tools to execute tasks effectively.
  • A strategic approach to communications and marketing.
  • Passionate about social media marketing, community engagement, and innovative communication strategies.
  • An analytical mind for measuring the impact of our efforts.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong writing and communication skills capable of meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in simplifying complex technical and civic concepts into relatable content.
  • Experienced in social media management and content creation, including basic graphic design.

Desirable Skills:

  • Keen interest in technology, governance, democracy, or civic tech.
  • Background in managing marketing campaigns, event organization, or content creation for web platforms.

Commitment

  • Initial contract starting September 1, 2024, until September 30, 2025, with potential for extension.
  • Part-time role (estimated at no more than 10 hours per week).
